Recently a few co-workers and I attended lunch. We wanted something out of the ordinary and decided to try out a new restaurant in the area. I had been wanting to try them out, but was going to wait until the summer. Well, I am glad I didn't! If you are a big seafood lover, this is the spot for you. Hammocks Trading Co. has everything ranging from Shrimp and Grouper to various prepared Oysters. The atmosphere has the feeling of being on a beach. From the tiki bar to the sail boat steers hanging on the wall, it made me feel like I was back at home on the Jersey Shores. They also have outside seating for those warm nights in Atlanta. The menu pricing is very affordable. If you are ever in the Atlanta area, please head up to Sandy Springs and give Hammocks Trading Co. a visit. They will welcome you with open arms and will  not disappoint.

Happy New Year! Yes, I know that I am late. How was everyone's New Year celebrations? Mine was spent with a soror (sorority sister) and a couple of celebrities.  I counted down with a glass of champagne and blowing on noise makers. This year, I attended Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas Razzle Dazzle Affair at BarOne Tapas & Lounge in Atlanta, GA. The room was filled with different ages and races. From your average Joe to your biggest celebrity, it was an event that I couldn't miss. I am rocking a coral color dress with a black blazer and black heels. I decided to wear my hair in a slick ponytail and go dramatic with my makeup. I tried to keep it sexy yet classy.

Saturday Shoe!

This is HEATHER!  This is the perfect fall boot. I love when the seasons change because that means I get to change around my closet as well. Heather is in my showroom from www.shoemint.com. She comes in black leather  or cognac leather (I prefer the cognac leather). 1 1/2 inch heel with a 17" shaft heel. What a Friday!

What a long week! I thought Friday would never get here. After working 40hrs behind a desk and checking other contractors work, I deserve to kick my feet up a bit and relax. This weekend, I am going to get my car worked on, do some shopping and enjoy doing much of nothing! I wish you all a GREAT weekend...

Fall into Colors

This fall it is all about being BOLD. The bright colors of summer have tone down and deep, rich textures are in the spotlight. Lately I have been noticing a lot of women rocking the burgundy's and deep navy blues on their fingers.This weekend, I am going to purchase me a midnight blue. I must say that I am really excited. I will share the picture with you all once they are done!

Love Your Father!

I hope everyone had a great Fathers Day! I made this homemade card for my dad. I wanted him to have something that was personal and exactly from my heart. Today I spent the day with my dad and the rest of the family cooking out, laughing and enjoying each others company. I hope you all had a wonderful day celebrating your father or father "figures" in your life.

I'm Back!

Hi everyone!

I took some time off from my blog for a while. I needed to focus on things at home and spend quality time with family and friends. I have missed writing and sharing my love of fashion, food and travel! Now that I have a new job and extra time to write, I will return posting some of my favorite topics. It feels good to be back!

Hot Sauce On My Burrito Baby!

This weekend, I was busy spending time with my family. I decided to take my little sister out for lunch and drink, to talk about life and all things girly. My niece (in the picture) decided she wanted to tag along. So that scratched out the drinking part for us lol. We decided on Mexican food. 

El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant, was the perfect spot. It was my first time, but my sisters second time. Very quiet, family friendly affordable and a fun place overall. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Burrito El Mexicano ( one jumbo floured chicken burrito, beans, topped with lettuce, cheese sauce, tomatoes, and guacamole).I was very surprised. The burrito just melts in your mouth. I was shocked and a little sadden at how fast it was gone.  We had a wonderful time!!

Saturday Shoe

I love all things classic. Last Thursday, I signed up with Shoemint.com. When I viewed my personal showroom, I was excited! I loved every shoe that was personally picked. I especially fell in love with "Kathryn". She is the epitome of a classic pump. I love the pink hue. If your looking for the perfect work shoe, "Kathryn" is the heels for you.

Thoughtful Thursday

Lately I have been trying to find ways to de-stress myself and learn to not let things upset me. I recently got into the form of meditation. It is so relaxing and helps me to clear my thoughts. I really enjoy when I can come outside on my back porch and hear the birds chirp and the trees sway in the wind, while clearing my thoughts. I even do a little humming noise (sounds silly right?). But all in all, I love the feeling of letting loose of my anxiety and becoming peaceful.


Now I know why people who are pro yoga and advent meditaters are always happy!

What do you do to relax your mind? 

Strawberry Wednesday

Today, I relaxed. I must say it has been very rewarding to be able to take a day or two and just do NOTHING. As I went to walk my Yorkie (Jada), I noticed how pretty my apartment complex looks. I decided to take some pictures of our walk and wanted to share with you. Enjoy.

1. Pink statement necklace- I love the color pink and I just love this chic, elegant statement necklace. Pair it with the perfect black or silver-grey dress! 

2. Margaritas! - The summer time is approaching. I am a girl who loves her tequila and lime.. and a margarita is the perfect summer drink. 

3. VS bathing suit- I have been looking around for the perfect swim suit. This Victoria's Secret one piece with the open stomach is sexy. 

4. Ipad 2- I still do not have the Ipad. I know I am behind in the times, but hey I am a girl who lives off a budget, but I am working towards to it. Trust me :) 

These are my number one must have items for the summer. The perfect accessories for laying out by the pool! 

Signature Tutorial

I have been updating my blog a lot this past month. I wanted to have personal touch to my entries and decided to develop a signature. I browsed around and found a tutorial done by Kira on Primp My Blog: How to Make a Signature Image With GIMP . I love Kira and her tutorials, she has helped me a lot with making my blog look sophisticated and pretty. At first I thought it was going to be a lot of work, but it was fairly simple. I have been waiting to get the chance to blog about Camicakes Cupcakes in Buckhead of Georgia. Wow, these cupcakes are so rich, moist and yummy! There is a different flavor for all taste-buds. For my little sisters birthday I ordered a dozen (variety) as one of her gifts and she loved them! She loved them so much, she almost didn't share with the family. I recommend these small treats over a sheet cake any day.

Hard Work Pays Off!

Tis' the season for celebrations! The weather is warmer and the flowers are blooming. High school age youth are graduating and preparing for college or the workforce. Spring is the time for weddings and lots of festivals and outdoor activities. College students and graduate students are also planning for graduations all around the world. This past Monday, I graduated with my masters degree in Public Administration. It was just a hard and long journey for me. Those who supported me ranged from my mother and father, to a special person in my life. 

I always had this perception that graduate school was going to be easier than undergraduate school, only because that is what I was told from a lot of graduate students. I would like to set the record straight, it is a hard journey to go through. It is not as easy as everyone perceives it to be. Remember things that come easily to you are not worth having. 

Once I walked across that stage and shook the president and deans hands, I was ecstatic. There is nothing greater in life than to feel a great sense of accomplishment.

This is a gorgeous platform sandal. I love the chunky look of the shoe. When I first saw this shoe on gilt.com, I thought it was a dark blue with a gold trim. The shoe color is actually black! This is a fabulous addition for that evening outfit while having cocktails with your girlfriends.
